SRMC golf tourney huge success

First place winners in the first flight of the SRMC annual golf tournament were: Wes Webb, Lindsey Ethridge, John Skinner and Bob Matthews.

The Sampson Regional Medical Center Foundation held its 13th Annual Partners for Life Golf Tournament last Thursday, April 28. With the forecasted rain holding off, it turned out to be a beautiful day for 116 golfers.

The 29 teams were golfing for a cause, as proceeds from this year’s tournament will support the opening of a new Family-Visitor Waiting Area on the Medical-Surgical Unit. More than $20,000 was raised.

Visiting a loved one in the hospital can often be stressful. It may also be difficult for families and visitors when they need to leave their loved one’s room so they can rest or have a procedure. Many times, families and visitors do not want to leave the hospital. The new waiting room will provide a relaxing area for a retreat during these times. The planned design for this area is fresh paint, new furnishings, window treatments, and coffee service for a warm, welcoming environment.

Sampson Regional Medical Center and its Foundation are grateful for the many participants of the golf tournament. Their support will make possible this new waiting room.

The first place winners were: Matthews Health Mart in 1st Flight, SPC Mechanical in 2nd Flight, Clinton Truck & Tractor in 3rd Flight, and Johnson Controls in 4th Flight.
