Garden club receives awards


The Garden Club of North Carolina held its annual meeting at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center in Durham. At the presentation of awards on April 18, the Just-A-Mere Garden Club received five first-place awards for work completed in the 2015 calendar year. The awards that the local club received were the Vickie Kornegay Award, the Public School Beautification Award, the Heritage of Durham Garden Therapy Award, the Barbara Williams Lee Tree Award, and the Beverly Shearon Yearbook Award. Attending from the Just-A-Mere Club were Beverly Best, Rita Wilson, Marie Warren, Wilma Jean Wise and Betsy Williams.
