A Clinton man has been charged after a stop for outstanding failure to appear charges also yielded marijuana.

Christopher Duante Wilson, 22, of 300 Mattie Byrd Lane, Clinton, was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana. There was 3 grams of marijuana seized during the stop on his 2004 Pontiac Bonneville, made just before 5 a.m. Tuesday on Faircloth Freeway near the Tram Road exit.

Deputies stopped the suspect for erratic driving, according to reports. During the stop, the deputy discovered warrants were on file for the suspect and also detected an odor of marijuana inside the vehicle.

A search revealed four small bags of marijuana totaling 3 grams.

The suspect was taken into custody for the outstanding warrants, which included a slew of failure to appear offenses, including expired registration card/tag and possession of drug paraphernalia out of Sampson, and simple possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and revoked/suspended tag, all out of Onslow.

Wilson was placed in the Sampson County Detention Center under $9,000 secured bond.
