Midway’s Strickland earns honor

RALEIGH — Charlie Strickland of the Midway FFA chapter was recognized with the first place application in the Swine Production – Entrepreneurship Proficiency Award Area. This recognition was given on June 21 during the 88th North Carolina FFA State Convention held at the Raleigh Convention Center in Raleigh. The award was sponsored by Hog Slat, Inc.. The chapter FFA advisors are Scott Jolly and Allison Kee.

Students placing first, second and third in the state received a plaque at a Proficiency Award Session held in their honor at the Raleigh Convention Center. First place winners receive a cash stipend and their application advances to national competition.

The North Carolina FFA is a youth organization of over 20,000 student members preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture with nearly 285 local chapters across the state.
