Chamber gearing up for annual King celebration
Jana Bass Chamber director
The planning is in full swing as we invite you to join us on Monday, Jan. 20 as we celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The 14th Annual Business Reception will be filled with song from “The Distinct Voices of Praise,” readings of Dr. King, and more.
“The Distinct Voices of Praise” is a youth centered choir that was formed for last year’s event. This choir was formed in order to have the youth of our community assist in the remembrance of Dr. King through song. Students from Sampson County Schools and Clinton City Schools joined together to provide their expression of Dr. King’s vision and share with the citizens of Sampson County their passion and talents in music. This choir has now turned into a choir that performs a couple times a month including at the Chamber’s December Business after Hours at GO Automotive. We are honored to have the choir back for this year’s event.
Thank you to the many sponsors who have made monetary donations in order to offer this event to the community at no charge. What a great opportunity for the community to reflect and honor Dr. King and his legacy to equality, freedom, and liberty. Again, please join us at noon on Monday, Jan. 20 for the celebration followed by lunch. For more information about the event, please contact Patty P. Cherry at 910-224-5347, Dee Bryant at 910-260-0435, or the Chamber office at 910-592-6177.
Also, save the date for the 44th Annual Chamber Banquet on Tuesday, Feb. 25. Join us as we celebrate 2013 and recognize the recipients of Chamber awards such as: Ambassador of the Year, Small Business Excellence, Entrepreneurial Success, Business Person of the Year, and Outstanding Chamber Member of the Year. We are looking forward to yet another great evening of celebration and reflection. Tickets for the banquet will be available at the Chamber Office starting at the beginning of February.
Again, we thank you for your support, dedication, and involvement with the Chamber ensuring that Sampson County truly is a place where you will “like the way we work and you’ll love the way we play.” Join us as we celebrate on Monday, Jan. 20 and Tuesday, Feb. 25.
