(The public reports listed below are provided by the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, the Clinton Police Department and the N.C. Highway Patrol via the Sheriff’s Office daily jail report.)

Arrests/citations

• April 19 — Kevin Stuart Faircloth, 37, of 87 Old Drag Strip Road, Clinton, was charged on out-of-county warrants with forgery of instrument, uttering forged instrument, attempting to obtain property by false pretense, simple possession of Schedule VI controlled substance and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. Bond set at $5,000; court date is April 21.

• April 19 — Stephen Neil Gibbons, 38, of 188 Starling Lane, Autryville, was charged on out-of-county warrants with identity theft and worthless check. Bond set at $8,000; court date is April 26.

• April 19 — James Edward Herring, 54, of 788 Murphy Road, Salemburg, was charged with assault on a female and communicating threats. No bond set; court date is May 16.

• April 19 — Arthur Lee Ruffin, 55, of Sampson Street, Clinton, was charged with disorderly conduct. Bond set at $500; court date is May 17.

Incidents/investigations

• April 19 — Harry Vann of Clinton reported the theft of two chainsaws, pressure washer, two weed-eaters, hedge trimmers, a leaf blower and other items. Damage to a storm door and screen was estimated at $300. Stolen items valued at $2,600.

• April 19 — New Life Christian Academy of Clinton was the victim in a break-in. Damage to a vending machine was estimated at $1,000.

• April 19 — Rosa and Ricky Boyette of Clinton reported a residential break-in, with firearms and ammunition stolen, along with an iPad Mini and prescription medication. Damage to a door and frame was estimated at $250. Items were valued at approximately $7,000.

• April 19 — Anthony Baird of Autryville reported a residential break-in. Damage to two doors was estimated at $1,550. A small safe with an undisclosed sum of cash was taken, along with pills.
