Although an investigation is continuing into the Saturday night fire at Advantage Auto Parts, 210 Southeast Blvd. in Clinton, authorities don’t believe foul play is involved.
“The origin of the fire has not been determined,” Police Chief Jay Tilly said Monday afternoon, “and an investigation is ongoing.”
Fire broke out at the auto parts store around 8 p.m. Saturday. Few details were available Monday about what occurred at the business, but the roadway was blocked until just after midnight as fire crews worked the scene.
Because there were chemicals inside the business, a HazMat unit was called in and the roads were closed to traffic. The State Bureau of Investigation was also called to assist in the probe.
No one was injured in the blaze.
Damage estimates were also not available.
