Clinton’s Old Bluff Theatre Co. decided that supporting the local arts should be like their shows — entertaining — which is why the company is holding as its first fundraiser a fun event that is sure to have attendees laughing. However, Friday is the last day to purchase the required advanced tickets, and organizers advise doing so quickly as space is limited.
Old Bluff Theatre Co.’s “A Night of Comedy” fundraiser will be held Thursday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m. at the Sampson County Agri-Exposition Center in Heritage Hall A.
According to artistic director Lucy Lockamy, the fundraiser is a chance for the community to enjoy a fun evening of laughs, wine, beer, and hors d’oeuvres while supporting the local arts.
“It will have a cocktail party kind of feel to it,” described Lockamy previously.
Members of the Old Bluff Theatre Co. will provide the evening’s entertainment.
“They will present staged readings from celebrated comedies,” explained Lockamy, listing company members Clay Boney, Alison Bradshaw, Felesia Buczynski, Mike Buczynski, Kevin Kiernan, Lee Howard, Justin Lockamy, Lucy Lockamy, Natalie Pope, and Nicholas Ziolkowski as the featured actors.
The actors will entertain attendees with selected scenes from three different comedies. While the specific comedies to be performed remain a surprise, Lockamy shared that they are well-known and accessible.
At the end of the night, attendees will pick their favorite comedy that was performed, and the play that receives the most votes will be performed as Old Bluff’s spring show.
“This will be an exciting, relaxing, and hilarious event,” shared Lockamy back in mid-August when early preparations were being made. “This is the best way we could think of to entertain the folks of Sampson County while at the same time raising money for our company and future shows.”
To take part in the evening’s fun and also show support Old Bluff Theatre Co, interested persons can reserve individual tickets for $30 and couples’ tickets for $50. Attendees must get tickets in advance by the end of the day today, Sept. 6.
Tickets can be purchased at obt-comedy.brownpaperticket.com. These tickets can be mailed, printed at home, or picked up at the door the night of the fundraiser. Tickets can also be purchased by sending a check to Old Bluff Theatre Co., P.O. Box 1886, Clinton, NC 28329. These tickets will be available for pick-up at the door.
For those unable to attend the fundraiser but want to show their support, donations to help fund future Old Bluff Theatre Co. productions can be made online at obt-comedy.brownpapertickets.com as well.
