Early this summer, members of the Clinton Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. attended the annual event of the legislative sessions of the N.C. General Assembly.

The meetings were held in June.

Aft the morning sessions, members said they were fortunate enough to visit with elected officials that represent Sampson, Johnston and Duplin counties, including Sen. Brent Jackson and House members Rep. Larry Bell and Rep. William Brisson.

The theme was “Advocacy in Action: Strengthening our Legacy.” Some talking points discussed with the officials included: teacher tenure, salary increases for state employees and retirees, Medicaid expansion and funding and support of black colleges and universities.

Jackson, Deltas said, responded to all the focal points with positive replies.
