In what’s turning out to be a stellar start-up season, Mintz Christian Academy’s middle school volleyball team beat Roseboro-Salemburg in two straight sets, 25-16 and 25-21.

Lady Lion Brianna Wheeler led all scores with 25 service points, followed by Erynn Sessoms with 13 service points, according to MCA coach Dan Heinz.

RSMS played well and had strong serving by Krislen Bullard and Peyton Crumpler.

“I was very please with our effort tonight. RSMS played hard, they have several great athletes, but our overall teamwork and defense carried us through,” Heinz stated. “We had strong play from our middle hitter, Hanna Horne, and outside hitter, Sydney Norris. They both brought in 5 kills. Savannah Fann and Caroline Mathews did a great job on serve receive, along with Courtney Barber.”

“Tonight was a good test for us. We had to step up our game, and the girls did it,” Heinz declared.

So far, MCA is unbeaten and will host Falcom Christian Academy on Monday at 4 and then travel to Sampson Middle on Tuesday.
