The Raiders managed to take down county rival and new conference competition Clinton in Dark Horse territory on Tuesday in three sets: 18-25; 18-25 and 23-25.

Midway head coach Jennifer Naylor, still upbeat over the recent Raider win against unbeaten Pender, was thrilled with this victory.

“Overall, Clinton is a tough team to play against. Our girls held it together, and we just did our thing. Our goal was to come here and beat them in 3, and we did that, so that’s really great. Hats off to Clinton. They are getting a lot better,” Coach Naylor expressed.

For Midway, Cassidy Strickland had 19 assists; Taylor Fann, 4 assists; Amber Poole, 9 assists; Kelsey Pondo, 10 kills; and Anna Hubbard, 6 kills.

Clinton head coach Jennifer Edgerton said she was proud of how tough her Dark Horse team played, and felt like they never gave up, especially in the third set. “I think we’re getting better with each game, but just fell short tonight,” she stated.

Stats for Clinton showed Elizabeth Tsao with 1 block, 4 kills, 2 aces; Jessica Bell, 2 kills, 3 aces; Tori Tyndall, 4 digs, 1 block, 2 kills, 1 tip, 1 ace; Kaytlen O’Neal, 1 ace; Kristen Gasper, 3 digs; Dayna DeMaddis, 1 dig, Jackie Parker, 1 dig.

The Raiders move to 6-4 in the conference, and they host Wallace today (Thursday).

Clinton is holding their annual “Pink” game in recognition of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is today (Thursday) at home against Union.

The Raider JV was also victorious on the Dark Horse court, winning in two sets: 25-11; 25-23.

“ I thought the JV game was wonderful. We knew that when we came to Clinton, it was going to be tough, because the only loss we have is against Clinton. They don’t let anything fall, and they like to save it all, but our team came together, and we were able to pull it out,” a relieved Coach Naylor said.

The Raider JV record is now 9-1.
