After getting their first loss of the season versus Sampson, Hobbton Middle hung on to beat Midway 8-4 in soccer action on Wednesday.
“It took us thirty minutes to wake up. Not sure what was in our heads today. Midway brought it today and we took it for thirty minutes,” said Coach Damon Burnett of Hobbton.
Midway had a 3-2 lead into halftime but the Wildcats erupted for six goals in the first 18 minutes of the second half to take an 8-3 lead.
Goal scorers for Hobbton were Jair Sanchez with 3, Francisco Gomez with 2, Dennis Licona, Kevin Chavira and Dante Feliciano would all score one apiece.
Raider goals were from Tye Mullins and Juan Medellin who had the hat trick. Midway would tack on one more near the end of the game to make the final score 8-4.
Hobbton’s record is now 4-1, currently tied for first place in the conference.
