The Crusaders continued their winning streak on Friday by dominating North Raleigh Christian Academy on the Knights’ home turf with a score of 72-35.


Harrells Christian asserted their authority with only five minutes off the clock when Sammy Dixon forced his way into the end zone from 52 yards out on the very first down of the game. Marcus Scarborough charged in for one of his four 2-point conversion to put 8 points up on the scoreboard.


HCA scored 2 more in the first quarter, all with 2-point conversions. The Crusaders then scored 3 more touch downs in the second quarter, including a 94 yard kick off return by Kelly Nelms.


In the 3rd quarter, Harrells slowed down a bit and only scored 2 more rushing touch downs. O.H. Rouse surprised everyone near the end of the 4th with a 24 yard pass to senior Rooks Wells in the end zone for a final TD.


Sammy Dixon was the leading rusher for the Crusaders with 18 carries for 153 yards. He had a total of 3 rushing touch downs and 2 conversions. Kelly Nelms put 24 points on the board with 4 TDs from 12 carries for 148 yards. Channing Kelly had 11 carries for 67 yards that included 1 touch down and 2 conversions. Marcus Scarborough had 14 carries for 104 yards and 4 PATs; freshman Will Huff had 1 PAT; Luke Davis, 4 carries for 40 yards.


Quarterback O.H. Rouse completed 2 of 3 passes for 42 yards. Dixon caught 1 pass for 18 yards, and senior Rooks Wells caught 1 for 24 yards and a touch down.


Knights quarterback Richard Landis completed 18 of 28 passes for 401 yards. Leading receiver was Daniel Rose, who caught 7 for 183 yards and 3 TDs.


On defense, Zach Carlton and Nelms each caught 1 interception. Cory Sutton had 1 sack and Dakota Boggs had 2 sacks. Justin Smith was credited with 8 tackles and Ben Parker had 6 tackles.


Harrells is 6-2 overall and 4-0 in the conference. They host Mount Zion next Friday.
