The Lady Leopards managed to drop No. 2 South Creek of the Two Rivers Conference in the first round of the state playoffs in 4 sets: 25-19, 19-25, 25-17, and 25-22.
Leading the charge for Lakewood was Rashyda Parker with 28 attack shots; 7 blocked shots; 30 digs; and 3 assists. Sending the ball her way was Amanda Kook with 35 assists. Also helping the cause was Kiara Rich with 7 kills; 2 aces; 2 blocks; and 17 digs; Anna Heinz, 3 kills, 33 digs, 3 assists; Aleah Parker, 10 kills, 5 blocks; Alana Jackson, 20 digs, 2 assists; and Emily Lewis, 22 digs, 4 assists.
Lakewood will travel back to Princeton to face the No. 1 Bulldogs for a 3rd time this season in the second round, which will be played on Tuesday. This moves the Leopards’ overall record to 15-8 and 8-3 in the conference.
One other Carolina Conference team will move into the second round. Rosewood defeated North Edgecome. Spring Creek also made the playoffs, but fell to Camden.
