Dark Horse JV pound Titans, 51-14

Sending Trask High School home with a loss, the Clinton Dark Horse JV football team ended the night with a score of 51-14 to keep their winning record on track.
In less than 30 seconds the Dark Horses were on the scoreboard with their first TD of the night at 11:36, followed by a 2-point conversion. Raheem Skinner made Clinton’s score 8-0.
Six minutes later, Clinton scored again followed by another worthy 2-point conversion, making the score 16 to nothing. Finally getting their hands on the ball, the Trask Titans scored their first TD of the night. With a 2-point conversion, the Titans closed the gap to 16-8.
Going into the second quarter, Clinton scored at 4:46. With this TD, Clinton had a score of 24. Less than a minute later at 3:58 Kavon Dessus for Clinton ran the ball to the end zone. The 2-point conversion failed.
Ending the first half with a bang, the Dark Horses scored again with only 45 seconds left on the clock. This put the halftime score at 36-8.
Coming back for the third quarter, RayQuan Faison scored for the Dark Horses. Another 2-point conversion moved the score to 44-8, Dark Horses.
Not stopping there, the Horses scored their final touchdown towards the end of the third quarter, completing Clinton’s score of 51. Trask was able to drive back down the field and score their second and final TD of the night as well. Neither team scored in the fourth quarter.
Clinton quarterback Tyon Wright had 2 passing touchdowns and 1 rushing touchdown, and both Kavon Dessus and RayQuan Faison had over 100 rushing yards.
Dark Horse head coach Michael Bell was pleased with the win, but added that he noticed a few missed tackles.
“Defense played well, but we need to tackle better. I was very proud of my team and they deserve all the credit. I love my team and we’ve had a really great year so far,” Coach Bell stated.
Clinton JV will play at Wallace-Rose Hill next Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The winner of that game determines the conference champion.
