Lady Raiders crush Patriots

Raider Morgan Tew was Maxprep’s Player of the Game in Midway’s win at Pender on Thursday to start the holiday break. They overtook the Patriots 51-35.
Tew had a double-double, scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds.
The Lady Raiders took off from the starting tip-off, scoring 19 to Pender’s 3 points in the first quarter, and never looked back. At halftime the score was 12-25. Going into the final quarter, the score was 23-37.
Taylor Faircloth helped out the Raider effort with 12 points; Brianna Butler, 7 points and 4 rebounds; K. Sublett, 6; Ashley Milliken, 5; and Amber Poole, 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists; Savannah Spell 2 points; and Brittany Watson, 4 rebounds.
Midway head coach Jennifer Naylor is extremely proud of her team.
“We had big games from Amber Poole, Morgan Tew, and Taylor Faircloth. It was a total team effort, with 9 assists total. We worked well, creating free throw attempts as a whole. This was a great way to start the holiday break,” she said.
The Midway ladies’ record moves to 3-6 overall and 2-2 in the conference. They will travel to North Johnston for a holiday game on Friday, Dec. 27. Their next conference game is Friday, Jan. 3 as they host Clinton.
