The junior varsity Dark Horse girls lost a hard-fought battle at East Bladen on Thursday with a score of 17-26.

Clinton kept the game close the first few minutes and the score was tied at the end of the first quarter, but the Eagles managed to get a few more shots to fall than the Lady Horses and moved into the lead, which they held until the very end.

The score by quarters was 7-7, 14-9, 18-15, 26-17.

“This was a tough game for us. We never could quite get into our groove. Our shots are still not falling. We hope to improve on that with each game,” head coach Regina Parker stated.

Leading the scoring for Clinton was Alaina Capps with 6 points. Also scoring were Kiera Mabry, 4 points; Chelsea Underwood 2; Jamie Jones 2; Brittany Simmons 2; and Charica Joyner 1.

The Lady JVs will travel to Southern Wayne the day after Christmas to play in a Christmas tournament. Their next conference game will be on Friday, Jan. 3 when they travel to Midway.
