Harrells Christian Academy hosted Cape Fear Academy in a hoops match-up Tuesday. The JV girls won 32-7 to keep their undefeated season alive. The JV boys lost to the visiting Hurricanes, 31-28.


Harrells’ varsity girls won their game 51-44 to improve to 10-0 on the year, and the varsity boys won their game easily, 50-40.


Leading scorers for the JV girls were Haley Bowles with 9 points and Mikaela Stroud with 11 points. The JV boys were led by Will Huff, who scored in double figures with 15, and Davis Jones with 5. Anna DeVane had 13 for the varsity girls, along with 15 by Bucky Everette and 14 by Emily Benton. The varsity boys had 3 in double figures as Quate McKinzie had 13, and Chris Cannady and Zack Carlton had 10 a piece.


The varsity girls led their game the entire way, including a lead as big as 11 in the third quarter before closing out the Lady Hurricanes.


The varsity boys game was never in doubt. HCA jumped out to a 16-3 lead in the first quarter, and stretched that to a 16 point halftime lead. After 3 quarters of play, Harrells had a 23 point lead, and were able to coast home with the 50-40 win.


The JV girls, JV boys, and varsity boys all travel to O’Neal School Friday evening to play. The varsity girls don’t play again until next Tuesday, when they’ll take on Fayetteville Academy.
