Lakewood’s JV team defeated Princeton to take the No. 1 spot in the Carolina Conference with a final score of 66-46 on Thursday night. This game has been a reschedule twice, due to weather issues during the past few weeks.
The Leopards started the game strong, scoring 20 to the Bulldog’s 6 in the first quarter and never looked back. By halftime, Lakewood had moved ahead 36-21, and the score was 47-36 at the end of the 3rd quarter with Lakewood leading.
The team was able to maneuver fast past the opposing team, as the ball connected to the net with almost every shot.
Sylvester Pittman, Lakewood’s head coach, said “This was a very good game. I think we continued from the success we had the other night, and the kids really showed up and played hard. I think since we’ve moved to the top of the conference our kids have really had a sense of pride and they’ve been playing with some real enthusiasm. It was a good game overall, and all our kids played and they played hard.”
Scoring for the Leopards was relatively even, with Keshaun Bailey and Quamane Williams each scored 11 points; Jirah Cooper had 8 points; Nesiem Devane, 7 points; Tyler James, 5 points; Pate Holland, 5 points; Kobe Jackson with 4 point; Johnny Owens with 4 points; Shyheim Williams with 4 points; Otis Jones, 2 points.
Lakewood’s record moves to 7-2 in the conference and 9-6 overall. They will travel to Nuese Charter on Friday.
