On Thursday, Feb. 6, 12 students from Christopher Bell’s spring Agribusiness class at Harrells Christian Academy attended the Southern Farm Show at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds. The Southern Farm Show is one of the largest farm shows in the southeast United States and gave students from HCA the opportunity to see the latest in farm equipment as well as the newest in agriculture technology.
HCA senior Rooks Wells shared, “The Southern Farm Show field trip was a highlight of my senior year. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing new equipment that I will be able to use on the farm this upcoming summer and seeing how new technology is changing the agriculture industry on a daily basis. I also enjoyed talking with representatives from various different companies to figure out the new features on their products.”
Bell stated, “The Southern Farm Show is the perfect extension of our high school Agriculture Business class. We have just finished a project in class where students had to develop a brochure and a sales presentation for an agriculture product. This field trip gave us an opportunity to see some of the products the students chose, in real life, as well as getting the chance to see real life applications of their brochures and sales presentation.”
The Southern Farm Show sets up HCA FFA perfectly for greater success at the upcoming Agriculture Sales and Marketing Plan Career Development Events in March at North Carolina State University, Bell noted.
