You are invited to visit with us at the Sampson Community Theatre’s big stage for a few hours beginning next Friday at 8 p.m. when it will become the home of Old Granddaddy in Hazelhurst, Mississippi where the three MaGrath granddaughters have gathered because Old Granddaddy is hospitalized and one of the sisters has just shot her husband. Over the ensuing hours you will meet each sister (including the crimes of the heart they have committed), a second cousin, the local doctor and the lawyer who will try to keep the husband-shooting sister out of jail.

There is comedy, tragedy, tears, laughter, and all the emotions in between that will remain with you for days.

Justin Lockamy, the director, has been encouraging his talented cast in being more emotional during their scenes in his after-rehearsal comments and the cast is responding and will be ready to touch your heart strings on opening night on Friday, Oct. 11 at 8 p.m.

Kudos to Kaitlyn Royal for being selected as Miss Benson Outstanding Teen for 2014. Kaitlyn is a regular on our stage and is an accomplished dancer as she demonstrated in “Oklahoma!” recently.

Angela Martin has received a plaque from the Sampson County Board of Education naming her the Teacher of the Year in the Sampson County System, a plaque from Hobbton High School for Teacher of the Year 2013-2014, and a ring from Sessoms Jewelry for being named Teacher of the Year in Sampson County. We are proud of Angela for her earned accomplishments.

Our website is available at: www.sampsoncommunitytheatre.org and we are on Facebook but if you visit us there, you must “like” us while there.

Thoughts until next week:

• You never know what is enough unless you know what is more than enough.

• Don’t judge men’s wealth or godliness by their Sunday appearance.

• It is a glorious achievement to master one’s temper.
