The Sampson Community Theatre is a busy place these days as the cast of “Dixie Swim Club” goes into the final two weeks of rehearsals. This play is a mature comedy that will bring out emotions you’ve probably kept hidden for years, but it has some funny lines that you must listen to closely or they will go right over your head.
At any rate make your plans to see a talented cast of women age (gracefully, we hope!) over a 30-year period of their friendship with all the ups and downs of their lives as we learn more and more about them. The set is essentially finished and Owens Home Furnishing has delivered the furniture for the set. The cast is energetic and anxious to entertain you beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21 so make your plans to be with us.
Last Thursday, Lee Howard was pleasantly surprised at the number of folks who turned out to hear her evening of storytelling with the county roads still tricky to navigate. She wowed the crowd with her rendition of Jack Tales (Americanized versions of fairy tales often associated with our Southern culture), family stories, dog stories and myths. The audience was enthralled with some of the stories and with the entire evening. Thanks Lee for providing your talent to our populace with no cost to them.

Thoughts until next week:
• It takes as much energy to wish as it does to plan.
• Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think.
• Take care of your thoughts when you are alone, and take care of your words when you are with people.
