On the morning of Oct. 4, the North Carolina Tarheel ChalleNGe Academy (TCA) held a walk-a-thon involving all of the cadets in the Academy. Each TCA class gives 10 percent of the money they collected to the American Red Cross. On the afternoon of Nov. 8, Class 41 presented a $700 check to Phil Harris, executive director, and Tracey Kohut, program coordinator for the Highlands Chapter of the American Red Cross. Cadet Jonathan L. Edouard, the Cadet Advisory Board (CAB) chairman, presented the check on behalf of the cass. The cadets were told how much it was appreciated and how the Red Cross helps in the aftermath of disasters such as home fires and storms, as well as helping soldiers and their families. The Red Cross gave the academy first aid kits that were greatly appreciated.
