KENANSVILLE — In conjunction with the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) and the State Employees Credit Union (SECU), the Continuing Education Division at James Sprunt Community College recently announced its participation in the SECU Foundation Continuing Education Scholarship Program for the 2013-14 fiscal year.

SECU Scholarship recipients are Sarah Apthorp, Phlebotomy student residing in Pinhook; Danny Ash, Barber School student residing in Wallace; Matthew Casey, Paramedic student residing in Chinquapin; Jamrica Pearsall, Barber School student residing in Teachey; and Nelson Pryor, Barber School student residing in Chinquapin.

The SECU has provided a total of ten $750 scholarships to be awarded in the fall and spring semesters. The target groups for the program are unemployment insurance claimants, unemployed and underemployed adults, military veterans, and members of the North Carolina National Guard, who are enrolled in a tier-2 class such as Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Barber Training, Dialysis Technician, Pharmacy Technician, and Phlebotomy Technician.
