Arleen F. Wise


LA PLATA, MD — Arleen Rosetta Fields Wise, 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013 at Washington Hospital Center.


She was born on April 4, 1921 in Pleasant Garden, N.C. to John Edgar and Carrie Belle Kirkman Fields. She was the widow of Luther Calvin Wise, Jr.


She is survived by her son, Richard Wise and daughter-in-law, Fonda of Lanham, Md.; daughter, Linda Downes and the late Melvin Downes of La Plata, Md.; daughter, Ginny Evans and son-in-law, Paul Evans of Spivey’s Corner; grandchildren, Carol Jones and husband, Kevin of Waynesboro, Va., Chris Wise of Denver, Colo., Brian Evans of Spivey’s Corner, Drs. Angela Downes and her husband, Samy Youssef of Tampa, Fl., David Wise of Pompano Beach, Fl., and Susan Wise Danko and her husband, Paul of Sykesville, Md.; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Carter Jones of Waynesboro, Va.; sisters, Inez Fields Lemonds of Greensboro, and Doris Fields Inman of Tar Heel.


A celebration of life will take place Saturday, Sept. 7 at 11 a.m. at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 4760 Fayetteville Hwy, Godwin with Pastor Kyle Burrows officiating.


Family visitation will be at the church from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be held at a later date at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Hwy, Cheltenham, Md.


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church of 3741 Fayetteville Hwy, Dunn, NC 28334 or Purdie United Methodist Church c/o Elton Kinlaw 1136 Fields Rd Tar Heel, NC 28392.
