Golden Strickland Sr., 83
CLINTON — Mr. Golden Virgil Strickland, Sr., 83, of 3500 Keener Road, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at his home.
The funeral will be held Friday, Sept. 6, at 3 p.m. at Mary’s Chapel Baptist Church, 2230 Keener Road, Clinton, with the Reverend Allen Gore and the Reverend David Willis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Strickland, born in Harnett County, was the son of the late Edgar Washington Strickland, Sr. and Sarah Cornelia Stewart Strickland. He was a member of Mary’s Chapel Baptist Church, a millwright and a livestock farmer. He was predeceased by brothers, Wilbert, John Bernice, Rhubert, Hubert, and Edgar Washington Strickland, Jr. (Boots), and sisters, Vada, Vida, Alice, and Lydia.
Mr. Strickland is survived by his wife of 43 years, Helen Lawhorn Strickland; children, Connie Weeks and husband Tony, Stanley Strickland and wife Carolyn, Randy Strickland and wife Wanda, Linda Kittrell, Henry Strickland and wife Sherry, Dean Strickland and wife Kimberly, Virgil Strickland, Jr. and wife Crystal, Cornelia Jane Ford and husband Michael, all of Clinton, Trevis Maleski and husband Mike of Clarksville, Tenn., Wayne Ennis and wife Ann of Wilson Mills, Frank Ennis and wife Claire of Fuquay Varina; grandchildren, Stephen and life-partner Jon, Lori and husband Derek, Carlena and husband Matt, Kevin and wife Leslie, Cortney, Jesse and wife Grace, Jessica, Maxtonie, Michelle and husband Justin, Alexis and husband J.C., Matthew, Luke, Ethan and wife Beth, Justin, Josh, Lucy, Danny, Lisa and husband Chris, Ben, Jamie and husband Michael, Johnathan and wife Megan, David, Kristen, and Murphy; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Ruby Caroline, Lucy, Dylan, Katlin, Adaleigh, Conner, Christine, Nicholas, Madison, Emily, Joshua, and Paige; brother, Futrell R. Strickland (Buster) of Newport News, Va.; and sister, Clydia S. Smith of Fayetteville.

The family will receive friends at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home, Thursday, Sept. 5, from 6-8 p.m. and other times at the home.
