The Sampson Middle School girls basketball team dropped Roseboro-Salemburg on Monday and punched their ticket to the championship game for the conference tournament, an event held in their home gym, to be played on Thursday afternoon.

There, they will face the undefeated Lady Raiders from Midway Middle.

The Lady Horses won the game 33-18.

They came out ready to play, forcing turnovers and scoring in bunches early. Head coach of Sampson, Jamie Harper, really liked their intensity.

“We were ready to play, I am really proud of the girls,” she said. “We knew we needed a good effort and we for sure got that tonight. We are excited about the chance to play Midway again, and we know that we are really going to have to play well, because they are a great team.”

Shanyia Nurse led the way with 14 points. Jada Faison and and Isa Banks each scored 6 points for the Lady Dark Horses, and Jessica Faison added 4 points to their box score totals.

Roseboro-Salemburg stats were unavailable for this game, but they finished their season a much more improved team than they were at the beginning of the year.

Midway will travel to Sampson, as SMS is the host school for the tournament this season. The game is set to tip off at 4 p.m., in what should be a good and exciting final.
