Midway varsity girls volleyball team put up a good fight, but lost in four sets to South Johnston on their first non-conference game of the season.

The scores were 11-25, 25-19, 13-25, and 13-25. “South Johnston has a great team and they are bigger than us. We came together in the second game and had good communication,” Raider head coach Jennifer Naylor said.

Raider stats credited Hannah Hubbard with 7 kills; Kelsey Pondo, 8 kills, Amber Poole with 4 kills and 14 assists; and Savannah Spell, 4 kills.

“Overall, I’m very pleased with our team so far this year,” Coach Naylor added.

The Raiders will host Princeton tonight (Wednesday).
