The Clinton Lady Horses volleyball team battled hard against rival Hobbton Wildcats but managed to win in three straight sets, 25-17, 25-22, and 25-10.

The Wildcats threatened in the second set, but the 2A Dark Horses were too much for 1A Hobbton.

“I think the game went very well. The girls played as a team, and they communicated on the court. They are all very excited that we won this game including me,” said a smiling Clinton head volleyball coach, Jennifer Edgerton.

This brought Clinton’s record to 1-1 overall.

Hobbton head coach Russell Jones was pleased with his team’s play despite the loss.

“We lost 8 seniors last year, so some of the girls haven’t really had a lot of varsity experience. I think yesterday (Tuesday) was a lot worst than today. We did a lot better today. They really improved during this game. The girls are still learning how to work together as a unit. I’m very impressed with how much better we got from one day to the next,” he remarked.

Hobbton’s record drops to 0-2. They travel to Goldsboro on Thursday. Clinton will host Lakewood next Monday.
