After a slow start, the Hobbton Wildcats came back to take Goldsboro Cougars 8-5 in high school soccer action Thursday. The Cougars jumped out to a 2-0 lead early in the game on lucky kicks.

Wildcat coach Bryan Martinez said, “I think we were over confident after beating Midway yesterday. They thought it would be an easy game. Also, yesterday’s game, and the wet sloppy condition of the field had its effect. We got better in the second half.”

Eber Gomez scored 3 times, the last with 8 seconds left after going through the whole Goldsboro team for the score. Christian Vega scored twice and Efrain Velardo, Ramiro Rodriquez and Antonio Caamano got one each.

The Wildcats are now 2-0 for the season and travel to Midway Monday for a repeat of Wednesday’s match.
