The Midway Raiders Varsity volleyball team defended their home by taking down the Clinton Dark Horses by winning all 3 sets: 25-19; 25-13; 25-19.
Midway head coach Jennifer Naylor was thrilled with the win.
“This was a great game. We worked together, and we had good communication. What was wonderful about this game was that everyone got the opportunity to shine in their spot, and we had some great hits. Everyone just stepped into their spot and played a great game,” she said.
Ivey Parker was named on Maxpreps as Player of the Game for Midway. The Raider team spread out their offense, with two players, Parker and Hannah Hubbard earning 7 kills each; Amber Poole and Morgan Tew had 5 kills each; and Savanna Spell, 4 kills; Kelsey Pondo, 3; and S. Bullin, 2 kills.
Morgan Tew was credited with 3 aces, while Poole and Hubbard each got 2 aces; and Parker and Pondo scored 1 ace apiece.
Cassidy Strickland had 14 assists and Poole had 11.
Clinton coach Jennifer Edgerton said her team wasn’t used to playing such a fast game and some of her starters were out with injuries.
“It was a fast tempo game that we’re not used to playing, and I’m not used to seeing it like that. We were also missing crucial starters to injuries. We hung in there, though, and we had a lot of good things happen. We just couldn’t pull it out and win,” she explained.
Clinton’s leading scorer was Tori Tyndall with 5 digs, 2 kills, 3 tips, 3 aces, and 8 points. Also leading the stats, was Katelyn O’Neal with 4 digs, 3 aces, 3 points; Caitlyn Perry, 1 dig, 1 block, 1 ace, and 3 points; Kristen Mason with 1 dig; Skyler Ray with 3 digs; Elizabeth Tsao, 2 digs, 1 tip, and 1 point; Jessica Bell with 1 point and 1 tip; Jackie Parker had 1 dig; Taylor Southerland with 1 ace, and 1 point.
Clinton’s record is now 0-2 in the conference, and their next game is Monday at Harrell’s Christian Academy.
Midways record is 1-2 in conference, and 1-6 overall. The Raiders will be playing at Wallace-Rose Hill on Tuesday.
The Clinton JV volleyball team were victorious against the Raiders, winning 2 of 3 sets on Thursday. Midway pulled threw on the first set, winning 25-22, but Clinton came back and took control of the last two games, 20-25; and 26-28.
Neither team quit as each set was a close call, but the Lady Dark Horses stayed strong, and came out on top.

Sophia Owen, with 1 ace.
