Ten shooters competed in a trapshoot at Coharie Shooting League on Saturday, Sept. 7. Joining local contestants were those from Fayetteville, Jacksonville, Zebulon and Dudley.


Participants shot at 100 16-yard single targets; Al Williams and Mac Herring tied with scores of 96. Williams was declared the winner after a coin flip.


Shooters in the handicap event also shot at 100 targets but from a longer yardage. Herring won this event with a score of 94 and also took home the High-Over-All title for the day.


Junior shooters Cullen Hobbs and Dane Westbrook earned one junior trophy each with Hobbs winning the single event with a score of 83 and Westbrook taking handicap with a score of 83.


The next trapshooting competition at Coharie Shooting League is scheduled for Oct. 12.
