The Sampson County Sports Club Hall of Fame will cut the ribbon officially opening the new Hall of Fame building at the Sampson County History Museum complex, 313 Lisbon Street, October 12 at 10 AM.
Club spokesman, Tim Pope, said, “The building is complete, the display cases are beautiful and it is something we can all be proud of. We are having trouble, at the moment, getting display items to put in the cases. If you have something for us, we really need to get it as it is a long process to get it into the show case. It has to be photographed, cataloged and valued before it can be displayed.”
The Clinton Street Fair will be going on at the same time so some streets will be blocked off and the area has limited parking. Pope said, “We will have shuttle buses running from the Civic Center and dropping passengers at the front door.”
According to Pope, the building and its cabinet work inside are completely paid for. “We built it on a ‘pay as you go’ basis and every things is taken care of,” Pope said.
