The Lady Leopards soccer team hosted James Kenan on Wednesday night, but fell to the Tigers, 7-1.

With the temperature dropping, Lakewood let the game get away from them in the first half and couldn’t get back in it, though their defense improved in the second half.

Jay Faircloth, Lakewood’s head coach, said “We were basically like kindergartners playing a high school game. We just made too many mistakes. Our defense fell apart in the first half. We moved the ball well all night long, but honestly, we got beat by a better team tonight. If we had played the first half like we did the second half, it would have been a totally different outcome. I’m frustrated but at the same time I see us coming together. It’s just taking us a bit longer than we want it to.”

For the Leopards, Jessica Espinoza scored their only goal, with an assist from Marisol Aranda.

Lakewood travels to Neuse Charter today (Thursday). The Lady Leopards have yet to win a conference game this season and have a 0-3 record.
