Lakewood’s softball team faced James Kenan on Wednesday night, but the Tigers clawed their way back to Kenansville with a 11-6 win.

The Lady Leopards made a few fatal errors giving James Kenan the chance to score multiple times. Lakewood began to pick up their game a bit more in later innings, but it was too late for the Leopards to grab the win.

Lakewood’s head coach, Dave Yarasheski, said “We played better this evening. We are still making fielding and defensive errors. That is not helping us right now. Overall we did better, but we just dug a hole for ourselves, and it’s just difficult to climb out of that.”

For Lakewood, Sabra Knowles pitched for 3 1/3 inning, Madison Tart pitched 2 2/3rds innings, Amanda Bowden finished out the game. For hitting, Ashton Hairr went 3-4; Anna Heinz was 3-4; Sabra Knowles was 2-3, with a double; Amanda Bowden went 1-4 with a triple; Alana Jackson 1-2 with a single.

Lakewood is now 0-3 in the conference.
