Midway hosted Trask on the softball diamond Monday evening, and fell by 5 runs, as Trask took the win, 6-1. Midway was plagued by some crucial errors, and the inability to get big hits with runners in scoring position. Midway stranded 6 runners in the loss.
Amber Poole gave up just 4 hits and 3 earned runs in her complete game loss on the mound for Midway. Poole walked 4 batters.
Emily Hairr was 1-3, Hannah Hubbard was 2-3, Brittany Watson was 1-3, Amber Poole was 1-4 with a double and a run scored, and Kayla McLean had an RBI ground out in the 4th inning.
“We have to hit the ball. We can’t expect to win ball games if we’re not hitting the ball,” said Midway’s head coach Leigh Ann Smith.
Midway will have to hit the ball better and cut down on the errors in their game against Triton on Wednesday. The Lady Raiders have now fallen to a 2-3 conference record.
