The Clinton Dark Horses traveled to Lakewood’s field on Wednesday night and didn’t leave empty handed, as they took the win home with them, 7-2.

The Dark Horses put the bat on the ball, leaving the Leopards falling short of Wednesday’s game.

Tracy Thornton, Clinton’s head coach, said, “We started off really slow offensively tonight, but the boys hung in there and we started to put some hits into play.”

“Our pitcher was Kris Royal and he pitched 6 straight innings for us. He did an outstanding job on the mound. Tonight was his first time stating as pitcher for us. I couldn’t want any more out of him. He did a fantastic job,” Coach Thornton added.

Bailey Spell finished out the game as pitcher. Batting stats for Clinton were unavailable.

Lakewood’s head coach, Raymond Spell, said, “Everyone was able to play tonight and had a chance to swing the bat. We came out and played good in the first 2 or 3 innings. Then we kind of quit hitting the baseball and went into neutral. This was just one of those games where the other team got more hits than we did.”

For the Leopard’s, Seth Herwy went 2-3; Willie Herring also had 2-3; Matthew Butler was 2-4; JJ tanner, Carlon Cannady, and Zack Tanner, each had 1 hit.

JJ Tanner started as pitcher for the Leopards and he pitched 3 2/3rds innings. Austin Tanner pitched 2 1/3 inning, and Zack Tanner came in to finish out the game.

Lakewood has a record of 4-7, and they will be at Hobbton on Thursday.

Clinton’s record is now 8-2 and they go to Trask on Friday.
