Lakewood’s softball team traveled to Midway on Thursday. The Leopards couldn’t bring home the win as they were defeated by the Raiders, 14-4.

Dave Yarasheski, Lakewood’s head coach, said, “Overall, this was a frustrating night. We didn’t show up to play at all. We committed too many errors, and too many mistakes to expect to even be competitive tonight. We did not do well this evening. We need to regroup.”

The Lakewood stats were unavailable for the game.

Midway’s Brittany Watson pitched a complete game, only allowing 3 hits. Amber Poole had 3 RBIs and a triple; Savannah Bullins had 2 hits and an RBI; Hannah Hubbard had 2 hits including a triple and 2 RBIs, and Kayla McLean had a hit and an RBI. The Raiders did a great job on the base path to score runs as well.

“We practice hard everyday to get out of this slump that we have been in. Hopefully we have turned the corner. It was a a good win for us tonight,” said Midway’s head coach Leigh Ann Smith.

Lakewood will host Spring Creek on Friday while Midway will take on Pender.
