The North Carolina Taekwondo Organization (NCTO) hosted the NCTO 9th annual National Tournament Prep Seminar in April at the Cliffdale Recreation Center in Fayetteville.

Founded by local Taekwondo Master Instructor Ron Whitted in 2006, the seminar is designed to bring together grassroots and world class athletes, coaches and referees in an effort to better prepare them for state, national and international competition.

The featured facilitator for the 2014 event was Nigerian multi-national Taekwondo Champion Master Olalekan Masha. Masha, now living in the United States, also won the 2012 and 2013 Atlanta Open Taekwondo championships.

Also serving as facilitators were USAT National Referee Master Freddie McDonald from Swansboro, Club Owner Master Andre’ Evans of Havelock and instructor Alex Constas of Fayetteville.

“I think it’s very important to expose developing Taekwondo athletes to world class experiences,” Whitted said.

Whitted is also a USAT National Referee, a USAT National Level 1 Olympic Taekwondo coach and former USAT and U.S. Open Ultra-senior Taekwondo national champion.
