The Hobbton Wildcat baseball team got their second win Wednesday night against James Kenan. The final was 5-4
Coach Mike Joyner said, “It was a close game and a good win. We went down 3-0 in the first inning but battled back. We are improving. We played better tonight than we have. We just have to put the ball in play a little more. We need to keep improving our hitting.”
Reid Justice got credit for the win, coming on in the 6th inning. Hunter Britt started but began to tire in the 5th. Britt had 11 strikeouts in the 5 innings he worked.
Justice had 3 hits, C. J. Gautier had 2 hits and Aaron Townsend had 2 hits and got the winning run in the bottom of the 7th.
James Kenan went up 3-0 in the first inning. The Wildcats battled back, picking up 2 runs in the bottom of the first and 2 more in the bottom of the second, with 2 outs on the board. Kenan came back and tied it in the 6th at 4 each. The Wildcats scored 2 runs in the first inning, 2 runs in the second inning and 1 in the 7th. Kenan got 3 runs in the first and 1 in the 6th.
Hobbton plays at Goldsboro Thursday and will play at Union Friday.
