SANFORD — Mr.George Bartels Truax, 78, passed away with his family by his side, on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012 at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sanford.
He was born on July 27, 1934 in Mansfield, Ohio to the late Marshall Mann Truax and Kathleen Bartels Truax. He was known as Coach Truax to many young people in Clinton, because of his active involvement coaching little league baseball, football, and girls softball. He was a board member of the Sampson County Community Theater. Mr.Truax retired from Hamilton-Beach after 48 years of service. He was a former troop leader for Girl Scouts of America. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. His children will cherish his memory and remember the value of work and the ethics that he instilled in each one of them as they grew up. He will be remembered as a good guy with a great sense of humor.
He is survived by four daughters, Debi Ann Apathy and husband, Michael of Winston-Salem, Gina Marie Flower of Girard, Pa., Patricia Osterhaus and husband, Donald of Sanford, and Cathy Yeates and husband. Joe of South Jordan, Utah; and a son, Roy Edward Truax and wife, Theresa McCarthy of Brooklyn, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren, Emma, Lily, Bella, Arden, Michael, Joey, Kimberly, Spock Shaffer, Nathan, George, Michael, Elliott, Roy, Kaleigh, and Kathleen; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was also survived by two brothers, Jon Truax and wife, Sally of Loudonville, Ohio, and Mike Truax and wife, Barbara of Mansfield, Ohio; and his beloved buddy, Scrappy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kelley Truax and a son, Garland Marshall Truax, and a sister, Dawna Loch.
Services will be held privately by the family at a later date.
