The Hobbton Wildcats’ softball team started conference play Thursday at Pender and came away with a big win, 11-1.
Wildcat coach Morgan Farroll said, “The team played much better. The defense played much better tonight and we hit much better as well.”
Taylor Bowden had a big night. She was 3-4, 1 home run, 1 triple, 1 stolen base, 3 runs and 1 RBI. Baleigh Moser was 1-2, 3 walks, 1 stolen base and 4 runs. Michaela Wilson was 4-5 with 2 doubles, 1 stolen base, 2 RBIs, and 3 runs. Brittany Testerman was 2-4 with 2 RBIs. Gracie Olson was 1-3 and Casey Hobbs had 1 run. Olson was the winning pitcher going the distance with 5 strike-outs.
The Wildcats are 3-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play. Their next outing will be Tuesday when they play host to the Tigers of James Kenan.
