SALEMBURG — Mr. John Franklin “J.F.” Strickland, 74 of 210 S. Main Street, died on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11, at Salemburg Baptist Church with the Rev. John Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens with Masonic Rites.

Mr. Strickland was born on May 1, 1938 in Sampson County to the late Thomas Rufus and Madgree Naylor Strickland. He is preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson, J.T. Naylor. He was a member of Coharie Masonic Lodge No. 339 and was a barber at Salemburg Barber Shop.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie Strickland of the home; one daughter, Marcella Bonner and husband, Jack of Salemburg; one step-daughter, Charmaine Johnson and husband, Hubert of Benson; two step-sons, Gary Naylor and Wayne Naylor both of Salemburg; his sister, Janet Pearson and husband, Ed of Salemburg; one granddaughter, eight step-grandchildren and 11 step-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro and other times at the home.
