CLINTON — Mr. Joseph Churchall Gardner, 75, of 176 Hanson Road, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2013 at his home.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, at Spirit of Life Church of God with the Rev. Darian Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park.

Born in 1937 in Sampson County, Mr. Gardner was the son of the late William and Edna Gardner. He was a member of Spirit of Life Church and a retired veteran of the U.S. Army as an air traffic controller.

He is survived by his wife, Ella Mae Gardner of Clinton; two daughters, Vicky Garcie of Georgia and Kim Royal of Roseboro; son, James Gardner of Florida; three brothers, Kenneth Gardner of Georgia, Felix and wife Evelyn Gardner of Roseboro and Morris and wife Frances Gardner of Roseboro; two stepdaughters, Joan Bishop of Clinton and Connie and husband John Strouth of Clinton; two stepsons, Cravey and wife Vickie Powell of Faison and Jerry and wife Jeanine Powell of Clinton; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and other times at his home at 176 Hanson Road, Clinton.
