The Lady Dark Horses remain undefeated in their conference and retaining their number one status with a win ovr East Duplin 53-44 on Friday.
“Our defense was the key,” an elated Clinton head coach Chris Owens said in a phone interview after the game.
“We put a lot of pressure on their guards, and they had 21 turnovers. I feel our execution was great. It’s always tough to play here at East Duplin because they are a good team. We could have done better from the free throw line, but otherwise I think we played tough,” he added.
Leading the scoring for Clinton was Kristin Glasper with 18 points; Lexus Simpson, 12; Courtney Pearsall, 9; Tamara Murphy and Tiandra Johnson each with 6 points; and Janay Saunders, 2 points.
Clinton’s record moves to 5-0 in the conference and 12-3 overall. They travel to Northside next Friday.
