Margaret B. Gillis
POULAN, Ga., — Mrs. Margaret B. Gillis, 91, died Friday, Jan. 11 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital
A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 15 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Hillcrest Cemetery.
Mrs. Gillis was born in Johnson County to the late Leslie Raymond and Dora Zel Johnson Blackman and was formerly employed with the FBI and had later retired from Suburban Manufacturing Company after 20 years of service. She was a lifetime gardener.
Survivors include her sons, Hilton Gillis of Albany, Neal Gillis of Poulan, Raymond F. Gillis of Kennesaw; grandchildren, Leslie Spray, Laura Henegan, Robin Gillis, Lisa Gillis and Kerry Gillis; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Nellie Honeycutt, Dora Lee Tyndall, Annette Blackman and Mildred Best, all of Clinton; and a brother, Leslie “Buck” Blackman of Faison.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Gillis was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Franklin Gillis on Sept. 3, 1977 and a daughter, Patricia F. Gillis on June 2, 1982; one brother and two sisters, Charlie W. Blackman of Alexandria, Va., Doris M. Blackman of Faison and Althea Chestnutt of Mt. Olive.
