A 51-year-old Clinton woman, who reportedly walked away from a group home facility Monday, has been found by police officers after an anonymous tip came into the Sampson County 911 Center.

According to Clinton Police Chief Jay Tilley, Ida Mae Josey was found Tuesday morning around 8:35 a.m. in the downtown area after the citizen called the center and told them they had seen her walking around the area.

Tilley said Josey walked away from the Green Acres Family Care, located at 631 Williams St., Monday at approximately 5:05 p.m. A statewide Silver Alert was issued for her that night. In addition, the City of Clinton’s phone alert system was used to notify citizens to be on the lookout for Josey.

Despite a search effort that included the use of police canine Dandy, officers were unable to locate Josey Monday night.

After the citizen tip early Tuesday morning, officers located Josey walking on Main Street and escorted her back to the group home.

She appeared to be in good physical condition with no injuries, Tilley said.
