A 34-year-old man was jailed over the weekend on multiple felony charges following a burglary and assault near Salemburg.

Diego Lopez Hernandez, 75 Tucker Lane, is charged with burglary, assault by strangulation, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and assault with a deadly weapon in the incident which happened just after 5 a.m. Friday.

According to Sampson sheriff’s report, Hernandez was identified as the suspect who broke into another Tucker Lane residence where a 32-year-old female acquaintance and another man were staying, assaulted the male with a knife and then assaulted the woman.

Although it is being called a domestic situation, sheriff’s officers were unclear if the female victim was an ex-girlfriend or wife.

Hernandez left the scene after the attacks and was later identified and picked up by law enforcement. He was placed in the Detention Center under no bond, as specified under domestic violence laws, but had been released by Monday morning.

Both victims, reports note, received minor injuries in the incident.
