Philip D. Goodwin
CLINTON — Mr. Philip Douglas Goodwin, 67, of 1420 Matthis Road, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at the Clinton Dialysis Center.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 26, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home Chapel in Clinton with the Rev. Richard Weeks officiating.
Mr. Goodwin, born in Wake County, was the son of the late James Hunter Goodwin Sr. and Ruby Almond Tyndall and was the husband of Edith Christine “Chris” Baker Goodwin. He retired as the evening director at Sampson Community College. A sister, Patricia Goodwin, predeceased him.
He is survived by his wife of seven years, Edith Christine “Chris” Baker Goodwin of the home; four children, Douglas Goodwin and wife, Michelle of Salemburg, David Goodwin and wife, Tracey of Alabama, Dennis James Peterson and wife, Lynn of Clinton, and Billy Peterson and Wendy of Clinton; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, James H. Goodwin Jr. and wife, Tisha of Salisbury and Paul L. Goodwin and wife, Judy of Boone; and a sister, Debbie Cashwell and husband, Mike of New Bern.
The family will receive friends Saturday morning following the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Piney Grove Baptist Church, 1818 N. McCullen Road, Faison, NC 28341.
