The Raider girls took down county rival Union Thursday afternoon, with the varsity sweeping the Spartans and the JV winning in three, 18-25; 25-21; 20-25.
“We played good tonight,” Midway coach Heather Johnson said. “Coming off a really good game at South Johnston that we just couldn’t pull together, this was a good win. We needed it.”
Individually for the JV Raiders, Hannah Hubband had 5 straigh service points, and 23 kills; Amber Poole, 5 straight service points and 34 assists; Taylor Fann, 4 straight service points and 23 assists; Brianna Butler, 15 kills; Savannah Spell, 3 kills; and Kelsey Pondo, 5 kills.
The varisty pouded the Spartans 21-25; 13-25; and 19-25.
Indivdually for the varsity, Holly Bass had 4 kills; Jada Cannady had 11 kills, 3 aces; Farrah Jackson, 6 kills, 3 aces; Kaitlyn Jackson, 10 assists; Elizabeth McCullen, 10 assists; Cassidy Strickland, 5 assists; Michaela Godwin, 5 assists; Jennifer Blackmon, 5 aces and 1 kill; and Morgan Tew, 4 kills and 4 aces.
The Raiders play host to the Hobbton Wildcats next Tuesday. Game time 4:30 p.m.
